Knowle Place Public Exhibition
St John’s Way Shopping Precinct holds a strategic position for shoppers, business owners and residents at the heart of Knowle.
Knowle Place is an opportunity to regenerate this under utilised brownfield site and provide a revitalised village centre by creating a new destination to eat, shop and live.

Knowle is ideally positioned to benefit from excellent transport links including immediate access to the Midlands motorway network, Birmingham Airport and numerous rail stations including the new HS2 interchange, all of which are within 10 minutes drive.
Perfectly positioned and appointed, Knowle Place will act as a catalyst for driving increased footfall to neighbouring business owners and provide Knowle with a worthy vibrant new heart.
A worthy new village centre
St John’s Way Shopping Precinct was constructed in the 1960s and due to a lack of investment by its previous owners is no longer fit for purpose and contributes little to the connectivity, vitality and viability of the village.
With careful thought and planning, Knowle Place is a significant opportunity to adapt an ailing local centre which has remained largely the same for nearly 60 years. We will create jobs and deliver a new retail and leisure destination for local residents which will support local retailers and business owners.
Knowle is not immune to the impact that online retail – and more recently the Covid-19 pandemic – is having on high streets and local centres must adapt to the changes in consumer shopping habits.
Interest in this location is high, with several exciting new occupiers already indicating a desire to be part of this opportunity.
Regenerating brownfield, protecting the green belt
The regeneration of this village centre location aligns directly with local and national planning policy, including the adopted Knowle, Dorridge & Bentley Heath Neighbourhood Plan.
In particular, the proposals respond to the need to develop of brownfield sites, rather than using greenfield and green belt land.
Residential apartments will also be delivered as part of the plans which will help to provide the varied mix of uses essential to the vibrancy and sustainability of local centres.
